Curriculum and Series

Creating a curriculum or web series is a great way to teach a new concept or regularly engage with your followers. Below are a few examples of series we’ve helped our clients to create. In some cases, these pieces were created as a revenue stream while in other cases, they were grant funded and freely distributed.

McAfee Seminary Teaching Churches Series

This video is part of a 6 lesson, 30 video curriculum series created by McAfee School of Theology and funded through the Lilly Endowment. The curriculum series asked six professors to each develop a curriculum around a particular topic that would be of interest to churches. Then each of the professors were interviewed on all six topics. Questions for the interviews were created by using each of the curriculum units designed by the group of professors. Sema Films worked with McAfee from the beginning of the project to assist in curriculum design. In this video “Prayer for Busy People” Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes was the primary writer for the curriculum and her work is supplemented by other professors. The final curriculum product was distributed on DVD, thumb drive, and a streaming platform.

Lupton Center’s Seeking Shalom Series

The Seeking Shalom curriculum is a 45-video, 6 week video curriculum to help individuals, churches, and faith-based organizations move beyond “charity” to creating sustainable change in their communities. The project was created by interviewing 30 thought leaders and then working with The Lupton Center at Focused Community Strategies in South Atlanta, Georgia to create the curriculum from the transcripts. The curriculum generated enough income to pay for the production costs as it was marketed to churches and organizations who worked with the Lupton Center. Below are three video samples from the curriculum: one interview-based lesson, an animated lesson, and the series advertisement.
